Obituary of Betty McQuillan

It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Marie McQuillan announce her peaceful passing on Monday December 21, 2020, at the age of 97 years.  Betty will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Dianne Andrews (Colin), grandchildren Kim Krug (Jay) and Jason Faulkner, and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Karmen, Jaden and Hannah. She will also be missed by sisters Helen Castles, Lillian Davison, Barbara Kilpatrick, brother Victor Powell (Marie) and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husbands Bruce Anderson St. Louis, William (Bill) McQuillan, parents Ella and Leslie Powell, brothers Steven, William, and Art and brothers-in-law Bill Castles, Dave Kilpatrick and Jack Davison. Betty was born in Port Dover on Nov. 3, 1923 and lived there for most of her life, until moving to a retirement home in recent years in order to be closer to family.  She worked for over 30 years at the Royal Bank in Port Dover where she loved serving her community.  In retirement Betty and her husband Bill enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends. Betty was an avid baker and knitter whose favourite recipes and beautiful afghans will be forever treasured by family. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Alexander Place in Waterdown and Seasons in Milton for their excellent care of Betty in her final years.  Special mention to Maggie (Seasons), Ruby and Deb (Alexander Place) for their warmth, kindness and compassion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home in Port Dover (519) 583-1530. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic there will not be a visitation or funeral.  Immediate family will attend a burial at Port Dover Cemetery. The Reverend Tony Bouwmeester officiating. For those wishing, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated. Online donations and/or condolences can be made at www.thompsonwatersfuneralhome.ca
