Jeanine Ross

Obituary of Jeanine Ross

Jeanine Ross - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanine Ross (nee Arpourettes). Jeanine passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Port Dover on October 9th, in her 88th year. Cherished wife and partner of Phillip Ross for almost 50 years. Loving mother to Tom, Brodie, Lionel and Cassandra. Dear "Mémé" to grandchildren Durrie, Winston and Ronan, as well as great grandmother to Jackson, Elena, and Gemma. Jeanine was born in Paris France, and shared many wonderful stories of her upbringing in the South West of France, and her large family there. Jeanine moved from France to England to study at Cambridge. In England she met her first husband Tom Lodge, and the couple married and moved to Canada in 1957. Together they had three sons. Jeanine had an extraordinary life that included being a fashion designer in England, living in the Northwest Territories, working as an art teacher, and having a distinguished career as a visual artist working in fabric, sculpture, printing and video. For almost 20 years Jeanine and her husband Phil Ross were dealers of Canadian antiques and art, including the "Shadfly Antiques" shop in Port Dover. While in business the pair traveled extensively throughout Ontario and Quebec. Jeanine was a warm and gracious host to her many friends, and earned praise for her beautiful gardens. She was an avid reader and supporter of the local artist community. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the nurses and personal support workers of the palliative care unit who guided and comforted us through the last days. At Jeanine's request, no gathering or service will be held. Please send flowers to someone you care about and think of Jeanine.
