Obituary of Doug Searle

After a courageous 10 year battle with paralysis, Doug succumbed to his illness on Saturday December 16, 2023 in his 73rd year. Cherished husband of Wendy Searle (nee Lowe). Father of Stephen and Anne. Grandfather of Mary. Doug will be sadly missed by his sister Brenda, sister in laws Cheryl (Richard) Myers and Robin Lowe. Beloved uncle of Derek Lowe, Curtis Myers, Chad Lowe and Christopher (Ashley) Searle Neahusan. Doug is predeceased by his parents Fred and Blanche Searle, mother and father-in-law Jean and Sonny Lowe, brother-in-law Brooks Lowe and niece Brooke Myers. Doug loved to cook especially when he had a chance to BBQ but he was passionate about boating. He and Wendy did many outings and trips on Lake Erie, Ontario and the Trent River making memories and friends along the way. He loved his parent’s Meaford cottage, there is where his passion for the water began.  As a young man, he thoroughly enjoyed participating in drum corps.  He was honored to be able to serve as past Commodore of the Port Dover Yacht Club. As per Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave. Port Dover (519)583-1530.
