Obituary of Brooks Lowe
LOWE Douglas Ivan "Brooks" On May 6 2023, Brooks Lowe passed away surrounded by family at Stedman Community Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer, in his 62nd year. As a lifelong resident of Port Dover, Brooks lived his life to the fullest with a personal motto of 'the more the merrier'. He leaves behind the love of his life Robin of 42 years, his two sons Derek and Chad, as well as his daughter-in-law Alyssa. He will forever be known as the greatest papa to Hailey, Ryleigh, Cohen, Bennett and baby to be. Cherished son of Jean Lowe. Much loved brother and brother-in-law of Wendy and Doug Searle and Cheryl and Richard Myers all of Port Dover. Dear son-in-law of Monte and Marlene Smith. Predeceased by his dad Sonny. Brooks will be missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Brooks gave over 30 years of dedicated service to OPG, starting out in general trades, ending his career as Supervisor of the Service Trades Crew.
He had a passion for coaching and spent countless hours leading young athletes to their greatest potential, leading up to two Ontario Provincial Baseball Championships as well as many hours in the arena with minor hockey. On the golf course, Brooks was true to the name Duffer. His love for the sport led him to start The Good Times League filled with all of his friends. He always cared more about the companionship of his family and friends on the course compared to his score.
Brooks' happiest moments in life were spent at the cottage surrounded by his family. Whether sitting around the fire, fishing on the dock or watching the sunset, there was no other place he would rather be. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Brooks at visitation at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530) on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. A private family funeral service and interment will be held at a later date. A Celebration of Life gathering of this wonderful life to be announced at a later date. For those wishing, donations to Stedman Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated. On-line donations and/or condolences can be made at www.thompsonwatersfuneralhome.ca
