Obituary of John A. Reid
REID, John A., age 66, resident of Toledo, Ohio (formerly of Port Dover) passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, August 26, 2022. He was born on November 2, 1955, in Simcoe, Ontario to John "Jack" Reid and June Reid (Leitch). Those left to forever cherish his memory are his two loving sons, Jerry (Lidia) Reid and Ross (Jessica) Reid: mother June Reid; sister, Christine (Richard) Sinkey; aunt Nancy Harnischfeger; step-daughter, Bisan Ashab; and many friends, colleagues and loved ones. Predeceased by his father Jack Reid and his brother Dan Reid. Born in Canada, John and his family moved to the United States on the Palm Sunday tornado in 1964 and began a life in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from Start High School, class of 1974, and furthered his education at the University of Toledo and Spring Arbor University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Management of Human Resources. John was working at the Toledo Hospital, where he was a respiratory therapist for 42 years. He was dedicated and loyal to his work. A very social and active guy, John enjoyed golfing, fishing, riding his bike and taking long bike rides across states, and working out, which he even did when he became ill. John also loved seeing his friends. Over the years John made many, many trips back to Port Dover, to visit family and do a little fishing. Although he lived most of his live in the U.S. he cherished his Canadian roots. Most of all John loved his family dearly and cherished the moments spent with them. A dedicated father, son, brother, worker and friend, he will be missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service to honour John's life will be held at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., Port Dover, ON 519-583-1530 on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11 am, followed by interment at Port Dover Cemetery.
