Obituary of Anne-Marie Vaughan

VAUGHAN, Anne-Marie Selena (Markie-Porter) RN, of Port Dover.  February 16, 1976 - May 10, 2022. It is with great sadness the family of Anne-Marie announces her sudden unexpected passing at home. Devoted and loving mother of Kayla Porter. Cherished daughter and step-daughter of Bonnie Markie and Bob Sebele, loving daughter of Fraser Levy. She will be sadly missed by her partner Jeremy Wicker. Dear sister of David Peters, half-sister of David Levy, Jonathan Levy, Kristopher Levy and Fralynn Levy and Frank, step-sister of Christopher and Inge Culhane and their children Rayden and Kylin and Michele and Paul VanKuren and daughter Danika. Anne-Marie is survived by and will be sadly missed by a large extended family, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her grandparents William and Flossie Markie, Uncle Fred Markie and cousins, Donna and Guy Young. Anne-Marie was born in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia and was a true Bluenoser at heart. Moving to Ontario in 1977, she grew up in Simcoe and attended Simcoe Composite School, where she graduated, then went on to Niagara College to study nursing. Anne-Marie graduated as a Registered Nurse, specializing in labour and delivery. She began her career at Norfolk General Hospital and she moved on to Brantford General Hospital and Clark's Pharmasave. She then shifted careers to Home and Community Care Support Services so she could spend more time with her daughter, Kayla, where her nursing skills were most importantly applied. Kayla was Anne-Marie's whole world and light of her life. Anne-Marie also worked for Mike at the Dover Apothecary. She loved to travel and took a great vacation for her 40th birthday with family and friends to Jamaica . She was a coach for the Special Olympics for a number of years. Friends are invited to visitation to share their memories of Anne-Marie at Thompson Waters Funeral Home 102 First Ave., Port Dover 519-583-1530 on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. A Service to Celebrate her life will be held at Grace United Church, Chapman and St. George Sts. Port Dover on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11 am.
