Celebration of Life
Obituary of Michel J.P. Pinette
PINETTE, Michel J. P. it is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Michel J. P. Pinette on March 18, 2022 at the St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario. Michel was born on August 15, 1948 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Retired from Hydro One, Michel was fully enjoying life in Port Dover, Ontario, where he had chosen to cast anchor many years ago, charmed by this magnificent beach town and its lovely community. He is deeply mourned by his daughter Geneviève, his son-in-law Charles Lizotte, his granddaughters, Cassandra (Jessy Abran), Vanessa and Sofía Isabel, as well as Louise—his longtime friend and former spouse with whom he proudly shared a descendance. Michel’s passing is also mourned by his five remaining siblings: Jacqueline (dec. Camille Demers), Gilles (Annie Martel), Lise (Jean Desgroseilliers), Angèle and Sylvie (Réjean Bellavance). Michel was predeceased by his beloved parents, Paulette and Girard, his siblings Jean-Claude (Muguette St-Louis), Pierrette and Roger (Sharon Januario). Our keen poet is also survived by a loving extended family in Quebec and friends in both provinces and abroad, of whom he was very fond. Among them are members of the following families: Pinette, Lacoursière, Tremblay, Lizotte, Dumas, Wilson, Misiuda and Cortés. In his youth, Michel enlisted in the Navy, further developing his passion and knowledge for the marine world, history and geography. Later on, Michel led a group of volunteer divers, pioneering eco-friendly behaviours by pulling harmful waste out of his native Eastern Townships’ lakes and waterways, and by encouraging people to be more respectful of our ecosystems. A handsome fellow, this devoted papa was always the first parent to be invited by the female teaching staff of his daughter’s school to accompany them on field trips, and he would graciously join the fan club. Michel will be fondly remembered for his electrifying humour, for his love of the outdoor adventures, travelling and storytelling, above all else, for his love and devotion to his family and friends. In keeping with Michel’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home 519-583-1530. For those wishing, donations to Port Dover Foundation would be appreciated, or please plant a tree in Michel’s memory if possible.
