Obituary of Eugene Harold Howden

HOWDEN, Eugene of Port Dover, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 in his 89th year, surrounded by the love of his family at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe. Loving partner of Fran Engell for 28 years.  Cherished father and father-in-law of Donna and Dave (Scoop) Misener of Simcoe. Predeceased by his wife Mary (1986) and his daughter Mary Jane (1973). Dearly loved step-father of Judy and George Biddle of Vittoria, Debbie and Ian Robb of Simcoe, Terri and Ed Stenclik of Walsh and Bobbi-Jo and Jeff Gamble of Port Dover. Cherished step-grandfather of 13 and step-great-grandfather of  15. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Eileen Hopton of Parry Sound, Marlene and Ross Macdonald of Brantford, Betty Howden of Jarvis, Elizabeth Howden of Simcoe. Predeceased by his brothers Donald, Carl, Wes and his wife Cathy, Doug and brother-in-law Don Hopton. Gene was a lifelong resident of Port Dover and owned and operated his spider spraying business for many years, commonly known as "Spiderman". He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158. Gene loved fishing and hunting and honing his woodworking craft. He was well known for his great sense of humour and always having a joke or two ready.  A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in Gene's honour at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158, Market St. Port Dover on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 1 pm to 3 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, Port Dover 519-583-1530.
