He was one of a kind and will never be replaced. I cherish the times that I had with Harry, listening to stories about the old days. His stories crossed Lake Erie, and included the old masters from Erie, Pennsylvania where I live and work. Harry knew them all! He took me to the Dover Dairy Bar more than once and it was amazing to see the entire place light up when he entered. Lots of my writing over the last decade has been powered by the times that I had with Harry. And beneath the gruff, almost scary exterior was a man with a heart of gold. He was secretly generous to many, including me. Harry gave me the gift of his time, allowing me to follow him around the office as well as the shipyard for a few days as he took care of customers from all over North America while he continued to tell stories about Port Dover, his father George and the marine business. And once I was lucky enough to share his "top secret" baked beans at a party.
