Obituary of Douglas Blackett
Douglas Blackett passed away Saturday March 12, 2016 in his 70ieth year, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Dear husband to Geri, proud father of Paul (Cindy) Heather (Tom Taylor) and Julie (John) Hunter. Cherished grandfather to Hope, Cody and Mitchel. Brother of Michael (Maggie) of Innisfil Beach, Tom (Cathy) of Pottageville and brother-in-law to Arlene, of Shomberg. Predeceased by his parents Raymond and Maureen and brother David. Doug was a Boilermaker, local 128, and later worked as a Maintenance Planner Supervisor at Imperial Oil in Nanticoke. Innately competitive, he enjoyed playing hockey, rugby and golf in his younger days. He never forgot his childhood upbringing on the farm, and enjoyed his own farm in Port Ryerse immensely. He was known for his work ethic, sharp wit, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor. Doug will be remembered by his friends and family as a consummate performer and host. Special thanks to Home Care nurses Pat Hodges and Elana Lloyd. A Celebration of Life will be held in Doug's memory on Wednesday, March 23, at Port Dover Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158, from 1pm to 4pm. For those wishing, donations to Doctors Without Borders or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Online donations and condolences can be made at www.thompsonwatersfuneralhome.ca
