Obituary of KLAAS DANSER

DANSER, KLAAS DANSER, Klaas, of Port Dover, June 29, 1934 - September 12, 2013, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital in his 80th year. Klaas was born and educated in the Netherlands. He joined the Royal Dutch Marines in 1954 and served in Curacao, the Dutch Antilles. After military service he moved to London, England and was employed at the London Clinic. In late 1973 he emigrated to Canada and was soon employed in the Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, a position he occupied for 25 years. Upon retirement he travelled for 3 years before settling in Port Dover to be close to his adoptive Canadian family. Klaas is survived by brother Harm and sisters Willy and Annie. He has been particularly close to sister Annie (Amsterdam) and niece Yvonne (Prague) who have visited Canada frequently. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers in Holland. Cremation has taken place, and as per Klaas' request there will be no service. For those wishing, memorial donations to the Port Dover Food Bank, or Grace United Church will be gratefully acknowledged.
