WIGHT, WILFRED J. Wight, Wilfred J. of Port Dover, passed away at Dover Cliffs LTC on Sunday, May 29, 2011 in his 87th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy and his cherished companion Katrina Ferguson. Loving father and father-in-law of Don G. Wight of York, Pat and Leonard Park, Carol Kelly and John Wight and Rebecca Bennett all of Port Dover. Proud and loving grandfather of Don R. Wight and Jen, Jacob Park and Melinda, Samuel Park, Ronald Kelly and Donna, Shanlea Tyler and Cameron, and Fletcher Barnes and Lisa, great grandfather of Wren Abigail Wight, Kyla Lisa Park and Weston Wilfred Tyler. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Lillian, Harry and (Eileen) and Don. He will be fondly remembered by special family friends Calum, Claire, Kirsten, Abbey, Katrina and Gord. Predeceased by his son Peter, daughter Nora, daughter-in-law Harriet, 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Wilf was a long serving member of the Port Dover Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158, he was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of St. Andrews Masonic Lodge, Hamilton. Wilf was the owner/operator of Wight Motor Sales. Starting on Barton Street in Hamilton, at one time he was one of the largest used car dealers in the country. As a volume dealer he was instrumental in the early years of the Toronto Auto Auction. He moved the business to Port Dover in the 80's and this year had celebrated 65 years in the automotive business. Family and friends are invited for visitation to share their memories of Wilf on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 10 am to 11 am at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME LTD., 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519) 583-1530. A Service to Celebrate Wilf's life will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11 am. The Rev. Father Kendall Reimer officiating. Interment Port Dover Cemetery.
