Obituary of RUTH CRUISE

CRUISE, RUTH CRUISE, Ruth of Port Dover passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in her 83rd year. Predeceased by her beloved husband George (1991). Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Gary and Carol of Kingston and Connie and Jim Dickey of Hawkestone. Loving grandmother of Stephen (Trish), Cori (Mark) and Rob, great grandmother of Tyler, Sean, Anna-Mae, Cherish, Evangelina and Reynia. Will be sadly missed by her dear friend Vince DeNino of Brantford. Dearly loved sister and sister-in-law of Gordon and Fran Meade of St. Williams, Muriel Phibbs of Jarvis, Eleanor Smith, Isabel Powell and Jim Cruise all of Port Dover. Also survived by many, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Stephen, granddaughter Michelle, brother Charles and his wife Margaret, sisters Hilda Robinson and her husband Gordon, Helen Bundy and her husband Harold and Florence Duxbury and her husband Lorne, brothers-in-law Allen Smith, George Powell and Keith Phibbs. Ruth was a strong woman who fought valiantly until the end when she gave in to peace. She and George ran Cruises Garage side by side throughout their working years and are happily together again. In life Ruth enjoyed playing cards, boating, bowling, gardening, dancing, and all things Port Dover. More than that her joy was in being with family and friends. A void has been left and she will be dearly missed. Friends and family are invited to meet with the family for visitation on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., Port Dover, 519-583-1530. A Service to Celebrate Ruth's life will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 1 pm at Grace United Church, (Chapman & St. George Sts.) Port Dover. The Reverend Murray Rounding officiating.
